This will mean that the courses will have to move to new sites by 2013. Staff have been 'briefed' to accept this decision, otherwise the University will close the courses altogether resulting in significant job losses. The University went through a cost-cutting exercise two years ago that resulted in job losses in Building Services and the closure of the student canteen at Bournville. The ISM is a platform used and shaped by groups/activists around the world struggling against the increasing privatization of education and for free emancipatory education for all to exchange information, network and make coordinations together. Although ESN is more dominated by educators, I do feel that ISM and ESN can very well complement each other. After all I feel we have similar aims, if not the same. After 22 months in detention without ever having been convicted of any offence, Dr Beltran is due to stand trial again. His trial for ‘rebellion’ has been delayed several times following a series of irregularities including allegations that evidence was manipulated. We are writing to President Santos calling for Dr Beltran’s release.
